Your estimate falls within the PHSO Level 4 range (£1,000–£2,950). Note: As of November 13, 2025, the government is reconsidering its rejection of compensation following new evidence (Reference: BBC / The Guardian).
Shorter notification periods increase compensation due to greater disruption:
What is WASPI? Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) campaigns for justice for 3.6 million women born between 6 April 1950 and 5 April 1960, who faced rapid increases in State Pension age (SPA) from 60 to 66 without adequate notice. The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) found maladministration by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in how changes were communicated.
Key Impacts: Affected women lost up to 6 years of pension, leading to financial hardship, delayed retirement, and health issues. Since 2015, over 395,000 WASPI women have died without compensation, saving the Treasury over £5 billion.
Eligibility: If you were born in the specified dates and received inadequate notice (typically less than 2 years), you may qualify for Level 4 injustice compensation as per PHSO recommendations.
Current Status: On 12 November 2025, the government announced it will reconsider rejecting compensation after DWP conceded its position is indefensible. No scheme is yet in place, but payouts could start soon if approved.
